Im a bit of a shopaholic Im into makeup, fashion, skincare, food, travel, and more. Im also a wife, mother, and I also work in cyber security/IT industry.
I never tried anything from Colourpop I have wanted to for some time. I think the brand is very innovative and very wallet friendly. I had seen on Instagram they had come out with collection featuring the Halo Ice cream brand. The colors look really pretty so I decided to get a few things from the collection, in reality I bought the entire Halo Top collection, and I also purchased a few things from the orange collection to try out. I have olive complexion, I find that orange looks good on me. My favorites from what I purchased are the super shock shadows. They remind me of the electric cool shadows by MAC. I found the super shock shadows very pigmented, easy to blend, very wallet friendly, and I was able to get eight plus hours of wear with them, I tested them out at work. The super shock shadows from the Halo Top Collection had a sweet scent to them it reminded me of ice cream.
From the Halo Collection
Birthday Cake- contained two shades by the pound and extra sprinkles. By the pound is a creamsicle orange shade with glitter. Extra sprinkles is pale champagne with gold glitters in it.
Mint Chip- contained two shades semi sweet and tassel. Semi
sweet is pastel green with silver glitters. Tassel is a white shimmery shadow
with silver glitters.
Rainbow swirl- contained two shades sherbert day and creamsicle. Sherbert is a peachy pink with silver flecks in it. Creamsicle is a baby pink with purple and blue in it.
Strawberry – contained two shades jam out and berry sweet. Jam is reddish pink gold flecks in it. Berry sweet is a warmer more champagne pink with that is golden flecks in it.
This months theme was totally boxy charm its odd theme, I
figured for the month of August they would about going back to school. There
are a lot of people going back to school in August, unless you are like me well
finished with school. I have been out of school for three years now, I
graduated back in 2016 with my Masters Degree in Cyber Security. Anyway I was a
little disappointed in what I received in this months box. I was hoping to get
the Glass skin refining serum and the ace beauty cotton candy and ice
latte. I did receive my second order
from Colourpop, so ill have that post up soon.
Becca Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder- I haven’t tried this yet Im still finishing up my Maybelline Fit Me Powder. I like a lot of the Becca products especially their highlighters so I think this will be nice setting powder.
Tarte Big Ego Mascara- I haven’t tried this mascara out yet
either, I do like tarte cosmetics because they are made out of mostly plant
based ingredients. I really liked their lights camera action mascara.
Wander Beauty Glow Ahead Illuminating Oil- I have used this
a couple of times already, I felt that it gave my skin a nice healthy glow
without being over the top. I used this under my foundation, and I felt like my
foundation applied more smoothly after putting this on.
Ace Beaute Glimmer Eyeshadow Duo in Huckleberry and French- These shadows reminded me of the Colour pop super shock shadows, and the MAC Electric Cool eyeshadows. I believe the MAC shadows are discontinued, I have not seen them in while. I still have a couple they are almost gone. I really liked these types of shadows I find that they last on my lids longer and they are easy to blend and apply. I apply these with my fingers or a flat shader brush. These glimmer shadows really pigmented, I think the huckleberry shade is great shade for the fall.
Hollywood and Vine- long eyeliner pencil in black. I
actually wore this yesterday its very pigmented, easy to apply, and didn’t
irate my eyes at all. I did find that it did smudge after a while. It was sort
of hot outside it was around 80 degrees, and I ran around the mall to. I think would
be a great eye pencil to make a smokey eye look
These are
the things I got in my boxy charm box for August what did you receive in your
box?
Last weekend I stopped by Ulta to get a one thing, it was on my list of stores to go last weekend. I had tried a small packet of Freemans Feeling Beautiful Hydrating Glacier water pink peony gel cream mask. I really enjoyed, I found it to be hydrating, lightweight, and cooling especially at night. Its been a hot summer this year, when its hot I tend to gravitate towards gel like skincare products. While I was at Ulta I found a couple of things from ELF Jelly Pop Collection. I had seen a lot of pictures of the collection on Instagram so I wanted to get things.
Freemans Feeling Beautiful Hydrating Cream mask- It has
glacier water and pink peony. Its supposed to be anti pollution so its suppose
to protect your skin from environmental pollutants. I work for a plastics
manufacture so Im not sure how that will help me there. This is very hydrating,
lightweight mask that you can leave on at night. I have been using it almost
every night since I got it, its easy to just put on at the end of night and go
to bed. I find that it also helps me relax at night, its been an intense two
weeks at work just been so busy with everything going on.
ELF Jelly Pop Face and Eye Gloss in creamsicle pop- I did
wear it a couple of days this week, I wore it as a highlighter. It was really
pretty on, it gave me this iridescent glow on my face. I did wear it to work,
and did wear nicely throughout the workday. It’s a light shimmery champagne
gloss, I felt that the texture of the gloss was thicker than the flush blush I
tried, I think that it makes it easier to apply to the skin.
ELF Jelly Pop Flush Blush in Berry Pop- It’s a beautiful shimmery cranberry color, I feel like the formula is a bit to runny, for me it makes it harder to use. I used the stippling brush to apply the blush, it was best way I could find to apply the blush. At first I tried with my fingers, I felt the formula was to runny.
Ulta Beauty Skin Soothing Sheet Mash in Calming Rose- I
grabbed this up a whim while I was looking at skincare products. Its supposed
to be for dry stressed overworked skin. Since I have dry skin I picked it up
and decided to try it. So it contains tea tree leaf oil and rose flower oil.
For most of my life my skin has been dry, I find that as I get older my skin is getting dryer and I have more breakouts. I also sensitive skin, so I have to be careful about what I put on my skin. Here are the products that I have been using currently for the last couple of months. Some of the products I really enjoy and some of the products I wouldn’t purchase again.
Cleansers
Philosophy Purity- This is a one stop facial cleanser, I use
this to wash off the makeup, dirt, and oil from my skin. This is one my
favorite cleansers because its super gentle, I even use it remove my eye makeup
and it doesn’t burn my eyes at all. I even let my 11-year-old use it, she uses
it she wants to be like me. I double
cleanse but this is the first cleanser I use in my skincare routine. I love the
fact that you can a big bottle with a pump, this bottle costs around 50 US
dollars, but it will last you months.
Tula Probiotic Purifying Face Cleanser-This is another
gentle cleanser I either use it at as a second cleanser, or Ill use it in the
morning. The cleanser deep cleans without striping your natural oils. It leaves
your skin feeling very soft.
Clean and Clear Lemon Gel Cleanser- It contains vitamin C and lemon which makes it smell amazing. I typically will use this morning since the scent is refreshing I feel it wakes me up in the morning.
Sprays
Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, herbs, and rosewater This
is the second product I have tried from the brand, I first tried their lavender
spray I really enjoyed it. I feel like their sprays are very hydrating and
refreshing. I actually use to prep my skin for skin care and then set all my
skin care at night. The bottle is inexpensive I think it cost maybe 12 or 14
dollars. I don’t typically like to spend to much money on facial sprays I prefer
to spend money on serums and facial oil.
Skin and Co Truffle Therapy Illuminating Skin Refresh Mist- I got this in this summer’s fabfitfun box, I have been enjoying the mist since I got it. Its really refreshing, hydrating, and it has a nice minty smell to it. The scent for me is very calming. I store my sprays in my fridge in the summer, I find that it makes them feel more refreshing when I use them, especially in the summer heat.
Serums and Boosters
Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum- Its suppose to hydrating serum, I do find that it does hydrate not as well as my favorite facial oil. Its very lightweight, absorbs into the skin fast, and its good for sensitive skin. I have another serum that I havent’t tried it’s by Farmacy, which I think maybe better than this serum. All the products that I have tried by Farmacy have been very hydrating.
Physicans Formula Skin Booster Vitamin Drops- They are a fairly new product they came out earlier this year. The drops are supposed to brighten your skin, I have been using it for a month now, I find that it didn’t really brighten my skin at all. I think it provided some hydration but that’s about it.
ELF Hydrating Drops- I just bought these about a week ago, I have used it a couple of times, Im still not sure how I feel about it.
Sunday Riley Juno Essential Face Oil- This is by far one of my most favorite facial oils I ever tried. Its really hydrating, my face has this lit from within glow to it when I use it. It is on pricy side its around 70 dollars. Its my favorite product to use year around when my face is dry. I even mix in my foundation sometimes which it gives me a youthful dewy glow. It has ton of good for you ingredients such as blueberry seed oil, cranberry seed oil, red raspberry seed oil, and more. I did read an article on the red raspberry seed oil it has some calming properties to it, and it helps soothe the skin. I use this as my daily moisturizer sometimes.
Moisturizers and Masks
Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream- This is the one for dry skin, its really hydrating, lightweight, and it absorbs into skin pretty quickly. I find that when I put it on it has a cooling effect on my face. I have been using for a couple of years now, I mostly use it in the summer when I want a light but very hydrating moisturizer. Its also quite inexpensive this costs me about six US dollars plus tax. It also great for sensitive skin I find, it doesn’t break me out at all.
Ahava Hydrating Cream Mask- This is a very hydrating mask, it can be used for 10 mins or overnight. I use the mask for 10 mins a three or four times a week. I use it overnight when my skin is at its driest.
